Playing pretend is a bedrock ability of all children. After having my own children, I became more aware of these moments, when their attention is elsewhere and their imagination is alive. The questions for me have become, do children still play pretend? If so, how do I capture that beauty? Can I find those moments of “pretend” in our screen-obsessed world? Lastly, as an adult, is pretend lost to me?
